Pamantik KMU 13May155 cases of TUHR violations recorded on the first half of 2014

  The Center for Trade Union and Human Rights (CTUHR) recorded 55 cases of trade union and human rights violations (TUHRVs) from January to June this year. Violations consist of encroachment on civil liberties of some 164 of workers and trade unionists as well as workplace and union-related violations of another 7,811 individuals.  Read more...

Massive retrenchments in the first half of 2014 Behind reports of astounding increased job generation in the first quarter of 2014, thousands of workers were rendered jobless as successive closures and massive retrenchments were done by several companies. The message read that she and 23 other executive council officers of the NXP Semiconductors Cabuyao Inc. Workers Union (NXPSCIWU-NAFLU-KMU) have been terminated by the management of NXP Semiconductors Cabuyao Inc. (NXP-Philippines) for not working overtime on three regular holidays of April and on May 1, International Labor Day.  Read more...

  From May to June 2014, the Center for Trade Union and Human Rights (CTUHR) in partnership with Tabang Sinarangan Bisayas (TSB) distributed farm animals, tractors, and seedlings in select farming communities in Eastern and Western Samar as part of a special program for the rehabilitation of areas worst hit by Typhoon Haiyan.  Read more...

  The Center for Trade Union and Human Rights in partnership with the Asia Pacific Forum on Women Law and Development (APWLD) launched early this year its climate justice feminist participatory action research program (CJ-FPAR) on urban poor women and women workers in select villages in Novaliches, Quezon City, Valenzuela City and Caloocan City.
