On April 19, 2019, Arlegui and Remias were putting up election posters of progressive candidates when they were abducted by police. They were then subjected to interrogation about their supposed links to armed rebels. Their abductors surfaced them after two days, after protests were held calling for their surfacing and release.
Arlegui and Remias are both organizers of urban poor group Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (National Alliance of Filipino Poor) or Kadamay in Pandi, Bulacan. The two are still incarcerated, as the cases filed against them await resolution at a trial court in Malolos, Bulacan.
