Free Esteban Mendoza!

At around 3:45 in the morning, Mendoza and his daughter woke up and discovered elements of the CIDG trying to open their locked gate. Mendoza went out to talk to the CIDG personnel who informed him that they have a search warrant issued by a Manila judge. They forcibly opened the gate and restrained Mendoza while two men entered his house. The police ransacked the house and claimed to have found a .45 caliber gun, a hand grenade and some bullets. Mendoza was taken to Camp Vicente Lim and charged with illegal possession of  firearms and explosives. 

Mendoza is the executive vice president of the Organized Labor Association in Line  Industries and Agriculture (OLALIA), a labor federation under the KMU, and former president of the Philsteel Workers’ Union-OLALIA-KMU.  

Facing false charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and of illegal possession  of explosives, Mendoza remains in detention in the Sta. Rosa City Jail.
